Yoga with Gonzaga Men’s Basketball and Pole Vaulting as an Oregon Duck: Jordan Roskelley

About this Episode:

Joe speaks with Jordan about competing as a Division 1 pole vaulter, teaching yoga to the Gonzaga Men’s Basketball Team, and being a more intelligent athlete.

About Jordan:

Jordan is a Spokane native who grew up doing multiple sports all year round. She was a jack-of-all-trades, but that changed her senior year of high school when she set personal bests in the pole vault and became Washington State champion. Jordan ultimately chose the University of Oregon where she finished her career at Oregon ranked 15th in the nation and was a member of two national championship teams.

Jordan has created Yoga for Athletes, teaching yoga to local college and post collegiate/professional athletes. She works with most of Gonzaga’s athletic teams, including men’s basketball, for the past four years. Jordan’s goal is to help athletes become more pliable and less likely to break under intense training, competition schedules or stress.

Yoga for Athletes is not designed to make all-star yogis, but to help athletes improve in their chosen sport and better pursue their athletic goals. Jordan also helps athletes learn to use breathing as a transferable tool to calm and focus the mind and body, not only during practice and competition, but everyday life.
