People are afraid to do handstand, and I think that’s totally rational.
As humans, we walk on our feet everyday and never flip that around and start balancing our body weight on our hands.
Also, we value the stuff in our head (mainly the face and brain), and tend to avoid things that might cause us to come crashing down on it.
All of this is not only painfully obvious, but also completely rational.
But, fearing handstand becomes a lot less rational when you have an exit strategy if things don’t go well and a basic understanding of technique.
My goal with this video is to eliminate your fear of handstand and, if I do a good job, make you feel like a fearless little kid again.
To do that, I’ll teach you the best exit strategy for a failed handstand and simple technique in the arms and shoulders that will keep you from ever falling down on your face/brain.
With these two bits of knowledge in hand, I will no longer have sympathy for you when you say you’re afraid of handstand, but I will always have sympathy for anyone working towards handstanding well, because it’s really hard and takes a lot of work.
